hmmmm, well well. Have you Googled 'Amway' or MLM - 'OUCH'.
I only recently discovered that what I got myself into is called Multi-level marketing or MLM.
After a couple of hours reading I was furious with my direct upline. I mean they were deceiving and have sorta tricked me into this business. Or did they?
What happened was straight after I joined I was told about a yearly fee you have to pay to maintain your membership....fcuk. Not happy I was never told.
Ok next, let's check out this so called 'Wholesale prices' the catalogue, which I may add has a very nice cover (expensive cover?) has all the groceries for the same damn price as you could get them (in bulk, and sometimes not even in bulk) at the grocery shop. OKOK so it's convenient cause they get delivered to your door...for AU$6.95 + bulk surcharges. the vitamins - some are cheaper some aren't then what you could get at your chemist. All natural of course, meaning herbal.
Wow there's som comparison on common products and the Amway ones, the cleaning one is exceptional and the energy drink is a little bit better with lots less sodium then other brands.
But after reading that stuff on the net I was gutted, deflated very dissapointed and well sad.
I mean they say - about only 1% of people make money out of this - they didn't say where they got their stats from and I couldn't find it from the website. I even tried calling and they don't keep a record.
they say that it's a lie when your told that it's a relaxing job work whenever you want and gives you financial freedom.
I was told I could have all that in approx 5 years. So at least I know it's not a 'get rich-quick' scheme, and if it's in 5 years and they siad 'could' then clearly there is some work to do, but how hard is it.
they said that the wholesale price is deceptive and so are the people - the groceries I was dissapointed in, some products you can deffinately get for cheaper at your local shop but some of the cleaning, and vitamins are cheaper I still have to compare approx 70% of the catalogue but until now that's the verdict.
The people being deceptive, well I confronted my upline and said taht they deceived me with the price of joining up how it's a recurring fee (less amount, but still) and they sorta admited it and I've been listening to the 'trainng' CD's and they do tell you to use little techniques to persuade and grow curisosity in you and ultimately manipulate you, good thing you also learn to do it to others. But I've personally learned that there's no need. If anything it's becasue people have the worst view about Amway, but why?.
A little mor research cleared this up a bit, people think this sytem is unfair cause there are people above you 'living' off the people on the bottom.
But isnt' that the way the 'normal' businessess work, your boss is literally living off you, BUT you could never make more money than him/her.
In this though there's a chance you could make more money than the person above you. That realization brought the web's critics a few nudges down.
The critics also say: Mathematically it cannot work because ti builds an infinite stream...yeh, no. hang on there are new people turning 18 every year, and there always will.
If you apply it to Macdonalds lets say then it would go like this. Ok continue building more franchises and you will run out of room on planet Earth, hence it cannot work. Also the market would get saturated cause people would starve to death because they would stop eating MacDonalds (even though Amway/Macdonalds are always going to be bringing new products and replacing bad ones)
Also there are always going to be new people turning 18 every day of every year.
So by this stage I wasn't very upset anymore but I still felt hopeless...time to recruit.
